Abstract

In August 2023, the combined 2 cities in Bangka Belitung experienced year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation of 3.45 percent with a CPI of 116.77. The monthly deflation rate or month to month (m-to-m) is 0.10 percent and the inflation rate for the calendar year or year to date (y-to-d) is 2.13 percent.
  • Y-on-y inflation in Pangkalpinang City was 3.14 percent and m-to-m inflation was 0.06 percent, with a CPI of 115.02. Y-on-y inflation in Tanjungpandan City was 3.99 percent and m-to-m deflation was 0.40 percent, with a CPI of 119.94.
  • Combined y-on-y inflation in 2 cities in Bangka Belitung this month occurred due to an increase in the index in almost all expenditure groups, namely; food, beverage and tobacco group at 3.38 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.04 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.72 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 0.60 percent; the health group by 11.37 percent; transportation group by 11.53 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.56 percent; the education group by 0.72 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 1.33 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 2.38 percent. Meanwhile, the only group that experienced a decline in the index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.53 percent.
  • The share of y-on-y inflation combined between the 2 cities in Bangka Belitung was mainly contributed by the commodities gasoline, rice and filtered kretek cigarettes. Meanwhile, the share of m-to-m deflation was mainly caused by shallots, purebred chicken meat and air transportation.
