Abstract

In May 2020 Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 1.20 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.57. Out of 90 CPI cities, 67 cities experienced inflation and 23 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjungpandan by 1.20 percent with CPI of 104.57 and the lowest occurred in Tanjung Pinang, Bogor and Madiun by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile the highest deflation occurred in Luwuk by 0.39 percent with CPI of 106.41 and the lowest occurred in Manado by 0.01 percent with CPI of 104.63.

Inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by an increase in some indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 2.14 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.77 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.18 percent; transportation group by 1.32 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 2.38 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 0.92 percent. Meanwhile, some other groups experienced deflation, namely the information, communication and financial services group of 0.06 percent; and the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.28 percent. Housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups; health group; and the education group did not change.

The May 2020 calendar year inflation rate is 0.12 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2020 against May 2019) is 1.05 percent.

The energy group in May 2020 experienced deflation of 0.03 percent, the deflation rate of calendar year May 2020 and the year-to-year deflation rate of the energy group in May 2020 against May 2019) of 0.26 percent. The foodstuff component in May 2020 experienced inflation of 2.71 percent. The deflation rate of the calendar year foodstuffs group in May 2020 was 0.78 percent and the inflation rate of the foodstuff component year-on-year (May 2020 against May 2019) was 1.17 percent.
