Abstract

In January 2020 Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 0.46 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.92. Out of 90 CPI cities, 79 cities experienced inflation and 11 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Meulaboh by 1.44 percent with CPI of 160.20 and the lowest occurred in Gorontalo by 0.03 percent with CPI of 103.61. Meanwhile the highest deflation occurred in Bau-Bau of 1.39 percent with CPI of 102.09 and the lowest occurred in Kudus of 0.01 percent with CPI of 103.37.

Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by an increase in most of the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.50 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel by 0.04 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.08 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.12 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 1.21 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 0.24 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group experienced deflation of 0.01 percent; the transportation group experienced deflation of 1.69 percent; the information, communication and financial services group experienced deflation of 0.08 percent. The education group and health group did not change.

The January 2020 calendar year inflation rate is 0.46 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2020 against January 2019) is 2.17 percent.

The energy group in January 2020 experienced deflation of 0.17 percent, the deflation rate for the January 2020 calendar year was 0.17 percent, and the year-on-year deflation rate (January 2020 against January 2019) was 0.90 percent. Food component in January 2020 inflation of 1.00 percent. The inflation rate for the January 2020 group of foodstuffs was 1.00 percent and the inflation rate for the foodstuff component year-on-year (January 2020 to January 2019) was 1.79 percent.
