Abstract

In February 2020 Tanjungpandan City experienced a deflation of 1.20 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 103.66. Out of 90 CPI cities, 73 cities experienced in ﬂ ation and 17 cities experienced ﬂ ation. The highest inflation occurred in Sintang by 1.21 percent with CPI of 109.73 and the lowest occurred in Pare-Pare by 0.02 percent with CPI of 103.82. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Tanjungpandan by 1.20 percent with CPI of 103.66 and the lowest occurred in Padangsidimpuan by 0.01 percent with CPI of 104.01.

Deflation occurred due to falling prices as indicated by a decrease in some indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 2.90 percent and the transportation group by 1.30 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group experienced inflation of 0.02 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuels experienced inflation of 0.05 percent; the household equipment, equipment and maintenance group experienced in ﬂ ation by 0.05 percent; the information, communication and financial services group experienced inflation of 0.02 percent; and the personal care and other services group experienced inflation of 0.08 percent. Health group; recreational, sports and cultural groups; education group; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group has not changed.

The deflation rate for the calendar year February 2020 is 0.75 percent and the inflation rate year-on-year (February 2020 against February 2019) is 1.90 percent.

The energy group experienced a deflation of 0.08 percent in February 2020, the rate of deflation in the calendar year February 2020 was 0.26 percent, and the level of deflation was year-on-year (February 2020 against February 2019) by 0.89 percent. The food component in February 2020 experienced a deflation of 3.74 percent. The deflation rate of the calendar year foodstuffs group in February 2020 was 2.78 percent and the inflation rate of the food ingredients component year-on-year (February 2020 to February 2019) was 3.07 percent.
