Abstract

In March 2014 in Pangkalpinang City there was a deflation of 1.76 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 110.52 after the previous February 2014 also experienced deflation of 2.11 percent with CPI of 112.50.
Deflation occurred because of the decline in prices indicated by the decline in the index in only one group of expenditures ie foodstuffs experienced deflation of 7.68 percent. Other expenditure groups experienced inflation. Group of ready foods, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco 0.10 percent; Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.05 percent; Clothing group 0.26 percent; Health group 0.62 percent; Education, recreation and sports group 0.40 percent; As well as the transportation, communication and financial services group 1.33 percent.
The inflation rate for calendar year (January-March) 2014 amounted to deflation of 0.18 percent and year-on-year inflation rate (March 2014 to March 2013) of 5.60 percent.
The core component of March 2014 contributed to deflation of 0.68 percent and a deflationary deflationary component of 1.22 percent. Meanwhile, the component whose price is set by the government contributes to inflation of 0.14 percent
