Abstract

In April 2020 Tanjungpandan City experienced a deflation of 0.19 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 103.33. Out of 90 CPI cities, 39 cities experienced inflation and 51 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Bau-Bau by 0.88 percent with CPI of 103.16 and the lowest occurred in Balikpapan, Cirebon and Depok by 0.02 percent. Meanwhile the highest deflation occurred in Pangkalpinang by 0.92 percent with CPI of 102.31 and the lowest occurred in Bogor and Semarang by 0.02 percent.

Deflation occurred due to falling prices as indicated by the decline in some indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.52 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0,28 percent; and information, communication and financial services by 0.43 percent. Meanwhile, some other groups experienced inflation, namely housing, water, electricity and household fuel by 0.02 percent; household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance by 0.28 percent; health group of 0.10 percent; transportation group by 0.02 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 0.18 percent. Recreation, sports and culture groups; education group; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group did not change.

The deflation rate for the April 2020 calendar year is 1.06 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2020 against April 2019) is 0.16 percent.

The April 2020 energy group experienced no inflation or deflation, the deflation rate for the April 2020 calendar year was 0.23 percent, and the year-on-year deflation rate (April 2020 to April 2019) was 0.22 percent. The food component in April 2020 experienced a deflation of 0.6 percent. The deflation rate of the calendar year foodstuffs group in April 2020 was 3.39 percent and the deflation rate of the food ingredients component year-on-year (April 2020 to April 2019) was 0.34 percent.
