Pangkalpinang experienced deflation in October 2017

Abstract

In October 2017 Pangkalpinang City experienced a deflation of -0.07 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 134.99.
Deflation occurred because of the decline in prices as indicated by the decline in some expenditure group indices, namely: transport, communication and financial services group by 0.66 percent; food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group by 0.09 percent; and clothing by 0.09 percent. While the expenditure group that experienced an increase in index was the foodstuff category by 0.11 percent; housing, water, electricity and fuel group by 0.07 percent; and the health group by 0.09 percent. While the education group of recreation, and sport is still stable.
The inflation rate for calendar year (January-October) 2017 is 1.19 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2017 to October 2016) is 3.74 percent.
The core component in October 2017 experienced inflation of 0.13 percent. The component inflation was set by the government at 0.52 percent, while the volatile component deflation was 0.21 percent.
