Abstract

Pangkalpinang City, in October 2020 deflation of 0.32 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 102.19. Of the 90 CPI cities, 66 cities experienced inflation and 24 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 1.04 percent with CPI of 104.43 and the lowest occurred in Jember, Bekasi, Cirebon and DKI Jakarta at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari at 1.81 percent with a CPI of 105.12. The lowest deflation occurred in Surabaya at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 104.03.

Deflation occurred due to lower prices as indicated by lower indexes in several expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.87 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group of 0.04 percent; the transportation group of 0.08 percent; information, communication and financial services group of 0.21 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.01 percent; and personal care and other services group by 0.62 percent. While the group that experienced inflation were the equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance group at 0.06 percent; the health group by 0.06 percent; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group and the education group did not experience a change in index / stable.

During the calendar year January-October 2020 (October 2020 against December 2019) there was deflation of 0.70 percent, while annual inflation (October 2020 against October 2019) was deflation of 0.97 percent.

The energy component in October 2020 experienced deflation of 0.23 percent with the CPI of 101.10. The foodstuff component in October experienced deflation of 1.15 percent with a CPI of 99.55.
