Abstract

EXPORT PROVINCE OF BANGKA BELITUNG ISLANDS
MONTH MAY 2011 REACHES US $ 190.0 MILLION

  •     The export value from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in May 2011 reached US $ 190.0 million (based on the Free On Board price, FOB), with tin exports of US $ 170.5 million and non tin of US $ 19.4 million.
  •     Tin as the largest export accounted for 79.1 percent of total exports of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province during the period from January to May 2011. The main tin export destination was Singapore which reached US $ 684.9 million or 68.4 percent of total tin exports, followed by Netherlands US $ 70 , 6 million (7.1 percent), Malaysia US $ 68.0 million (6.8 percent), Japan US $ 44.2 million (4.4 percent) and Taiwan US $ 36.4 million (3.6 percent). The contribution of these five countries reached 90.3 percent of the total tin exports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
  •     The largest non-tin export commodity of Bangka Belitung Islands Province during the period of January to May 2011 was the oil or animal and vegetable fats amounting to U $ 69.3 million (26.2 percent), followed by rubber and rubber goods U $ 41.7 million (15.8 percent); Coffee, tea and herb U $ 6.5 million (2.4 percent); Fishery products and processed U $ 3.0 million (1.1 percent); Metal ores and metal scraps of US $ 2.4 million (0.9 percent) and salt, sulfur, soil and stones US $ 1.9 million (0.7 percent). The contribution of the six non-tin categories reached 47.2 percent of total non-tin exports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
  •     Non-tin exports during the period from January to May 2011 to Australia reached the largest amount of US $ 139.2 million or contributed the most with 52.7 percent of total non-tin exports followed by China US $ 32.5 million (12.3 percent), Malaysia US $ 28.1 million (10.6 percent), Singapore US $ 24.7 million (9.4 percent), Vietnam US $ 17.0 million (6.4 percent), Bangladesh US $ 5.4 million (2.0 percent) And Japan US $ 4.2 million (1.6 percent). The contribution of the seven countries reached 95.0 percent of total non-tin exports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

  •     The value of imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province in May 2011 reached US $ 7.5 million, an increase of 193.7 percent compared to April 2011 of US $ 2.5 million. Value
  •     The cumulative value of imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province during the period of January to May 2011 reached US $ 19.3 million or down 46.7 percent over the same period the previous year which amounted to US $ 36.2 million. The decline in import value was caused by a drop in non-oil and gas imports by 53.1 percent from US $ 32.2 million to US $ 15.1 million, while oil and gas imports increased 4.5 percent from US $ 4.1 million to US $ 4.3 million .
  •     The goods category that gives the largest contribution to total non-oil and gas imports from January to May 2011 are marine and floating building (HS 89) with contribution of US $ 8.9 million (58.9 percent), followed by machineries / HS 84) of US $ 4.3 million (28.6 percent), fertilizer (HS 31) of US $ 0.6 million (4.2 percent), iron and steel goods (HS 73) of US $ 0.5 million (3.5 percent), rubber and rubber goods (HS 40) of US $ 0.4 million (2.5 percent) and machinery / electrical equipment (HS 85) of US $ 0.2 million (1.0 percent ). The contribution of the six categories of non oil and gas goods reached 98.6 percent of total non oil and gas imports.
  •     The five largest suppliers of imported goods during the period from January to May 2011 are Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan. The imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province from Thailand during the period of January to May 2011 reached the largest figure of US $ 8.8 million or 45.5 percent of total imports, followed by Singapore amounted to US $ 3.4 million (17.7 percent), Malaysia amounted to US $ 3 , 1 million (16.3 percent), Vietnam US $ 1.7 million (8.6 percent) and Japan US $ 1.2 million (6.5 percent). The contribution of these five countries reached 94.5 percent of the total imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
