Abstract

In August 2014 in the city of Pangkalpinang inflation of 0.18 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.36 after previous July 2014 also experienced inflation but higher by 1.85 percent to CPI 113.16.
Inflation was due to an increase in prices as indicated by rising indexes in five expenditure categories ie finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group at 0.88 percent; Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.70 percent; Clothing group 1.16 percent; Health group 0.15 percent; Education, recreation and sports group 4.29 percent. While the foodstuff category experienced deflation of 0.94 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group deflation was 1.65 percent.
The inflation rate for calendar year (January-August) 2014 is 2.38 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2014 to August 2013) is 2.38 percent.
The core component of August 2014 contributed 0.51 percent inflasi and a deflationary 0.24 percent deflationary component. While the component whose price is set by the government contributes to deflation by 0.10 percent.
