EXPORT PROVINCE OF BANGKA BELITUNG ISLANDS
MONTH OF DECEMBER 2011 REACHES US $ 273,7 MILLION

    
The export value of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in December 2011 reached US $ 273.7 million (based on Free On Board price, FOB), with tin exports of US $ 244.3 million and non tin of US $ 29.4 million.
    
Tin is the largest export of 74.82 percent of the total exports of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province during the period from January to December 2011. The main tin export destination is Singapore which reached US $ 1,445.2 million or 76.07 percent of total tin exports, followed by Malaysia US $ 159.2 million (8.4 percent), Netherlands US $ 144.4 million (7.6 percent), Taiwan US $ 77.6 million (4.1 percent) and Japan US $ 73.5 million (3.8 percent).
    
The main non-tin export commodity contributed by Bangka Belitung Islands Province during January-December 2011 based on 2-digit Harmonized System (HS) code is a group of oil or animal and vegetable fats of US $ 166.5 million (57.2 percent), followed by group Rubber and rubber goods of US $ 88.2 million (30.3 percent); Coffee, tea and spices US $ 19.3 million (6.6 percent); Fishery and processed products US $ 9 million (3.1 per cent); Salt, sulfur, soil and stones of US $ 4.7 million (1.6 percent) and metal ores and metal scraps of US $ 3.5 million (1.2 percent).
    
Non-tin exports during the period of January-December 2011 to Japan reached the largest number of US $ 162.7 million, contributing the most with 24.0 percent of total non-tin exports, followed by Australia US $ 139.5 million (20.6 percent), Vietnam US $ 127.5 million (18.8 percent), Malaysia US $ 94.4 million (13.9 percent), China US $ 75.6 million (11.2 percent), Singapore US $ 68.3 million (10.1 percent) And India US $ 8.9 million (1.3 percent).

The total import value of Bangka Belitung Islands Province during January-December 2011 reached US $ 91.6 million, up 24.3 percent over the same period last year which was only US $ 73.7 million. The increase in import value was caused by the increase of oil and gas imports by 61.9 percent from US $ 11.5 million to US $ 18.6 million, which indeed contributed to the import value of the Province of Bangka Belitung Islands by 20.3 percent. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas imports increased by 17.4 percent from US $ 62.2 million to US $ 73 million. The five largest suppliers of imported goods during the period from January to December 2011 are Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and China. The imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province from Thailand during the period of January to December 2011 reached the largest number of US $ 37 million or 41.9 percent of total imports, followed by Malaysia amounted to US $ 25.4 million (28.7 percent), Singapore US $ 14.3 Million (16.2 percent), Vietnam amounted to US $ 6.3 million (7.2 percent) and China US $ 5.3 million (6 percent).
