Abstract

In December 2014, the city of Pangkalpinang inflation stood at 2.58 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 118.26 after the previous November 2014 also experienced inflation of 1.10 percent with CPI 115.29.
Inflation was attributable to an increase in prices as indicated by the rising index in all expenditure categories ie foodstuffs by 3.59 percent, food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group by 0.47 percent; Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 2.33 percent; Clothing group by 1.31 percent; Health group 1.51 percent; Education, recreation and sports group 0.03 percent; Transport, communications and financial services group 5.65 percent.
The calendar year inflation rate (January-December) 2014 and the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2014 against December 2013) are respectively at 6.81 percent.
The core component in December 2014 contributed to inflation of 0.55 percent and volatile components as well as inflation of 0.80 percent. While the component whose price is set by the government contributes the largest inflation of 1.23 percent
