Abstract

In May 2014 in Pangkalpinang City there was a deflation of 1.27 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 110.83 after the previous April 2014 experienced inflation of 1.57 percent to CPI of 112.25.
Deflation occurred because of the decline in prices indicated by the decline in the index in some expenditure groups ie foodstuffs group experienced deflation of 4.20 percent; Food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group 0.32 percent; Clothing group 0.09 percent; As well as the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.95 percent. While some other expenditure groups experienced inflation ie housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.14 percent; Health group 0.18 percent; As well as education, recreation and sports group 0.12 percent.
The inflation rate for calendar year (January-May) 2014 is 0.10 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2014 to May 2013) is 5.26 percent.
The core component in May 2014 contributed 0.26 percent deflation and a volatile component of deflation of 0.84 percent. While the component whose price is set by the government gives a share of deflation by 0.16 percent.
