2015 Rice Production Up 15.28%

Abstract

Production of rice in 2015 amounted to 27 068 tons of dry unhusked rice (GKG), or an increase of 3,587 tonnes (15.28 percent) compared to 2014. The increase in rice production occurs due to increased harvested area of 1,905 hectares (19.16 percent), despite the a decrease in productivity by 0.77 quintal per hectare (3.26 percent).
Maize production in 2015 amounted to 666 tons of dry seed, a decrease of 55 tons (7.63 percent) compared to production in 2014 amounted to 721 tons. The decline in maize production due to decreased harvested area of 33 hectares (15.42 percent), despite an increase in productivity by 3.11 quintal per hectare (9.23 percent).
Peanut production in 2015 amounted to 144 tons of dry beans, a decrease of 80 tons (35.71 percent) compared to 2014. The decline in groundnut production due to decreased harvested area of 58 hectares (28.16 percent) and productivity by 1, 14 quintal per hectare (10.49 percent).
