Every September 26, Indonesia commemorates National Statistics Day (HSN). In this year's commemoration, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) set the theme “Quality Statistics for a Golden Indonesia”.
This theme emphasizes the importance of statistical data to build the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045, realizing Indonesia as a “Sovereign, Advanced, and Sustainable Archipelago”. To continue the transformation of the country's development, data is needed as a basis for policy making.
BPS' Role in Sectoral Data Development Statistical data that is used as the basis for national development does not only come from BPS. Other ministries/institutions also have the authority to produce sectoral data in accordance with the needs of policy planning in their respective fields. Sectoral statistics are statistics whose utilization is intended to meet the needs of certain agencies in the context of carrying out government and development tasks which are the main tasks of the agency concerned. Article 12 of Law No. 16 of 1997 on Statistics states that sectoral statistics are organized by government agencies in accordance with the scope of their duties and functions, independently or together with the Agency.
BPS, as a state institution in the field of statistics, plays a role in efforts to strengthen sectoral statistics.

by providing guidance to ministries/institutions starting in early 2024. The guidance is carried out by BPS as a statistical data coach in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Regulation No. 39 of 2019 concerning One Data Indonesia.
This sectoral statistics coaching is also a follow-up to the Evaluation of the Implementation of Sectoral Statistics conducted by BPS to ministries/institutions. EPSS provides a measure of the achievement of the implementation of statistical activities in each government agency, both central and regional.
“To realize the Golden Indonesia, it is important for us to rely on quality statistics and accurate sectoral data in supporting policies and planning. Let's improve the quality of statistics in every line for the progress and welfare of the nation. Happy National Statistics Day 2024,” said Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti.
With quality statistical data, including sectoral statistics, decision making in policy making will be data-based. The development carried out will also be in accordance with the needs and right on target, as a step towards the Golden Indonesia 2045.
