Abstract

In October 2023 there was Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation of 5.43 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 120.87. The highest y-on-y inflation occurred in Tanjungpandan by 5.43 percent with a CPI of 120.87 and the lowest in Jayapura by 1.43 percent with a CPI of 112.88.

Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most expenditure group indices, namely: food, beverages and tobacco group by 8.79 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.33 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.64 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 1.22 percent; health group by 2.17 percent; transportation group by 10.85 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 1.72 percent; education group by 6.90 percent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group by 1.78 percent; and personal care and other services group by 4.22 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index were the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.28 percent.

Month to Month (m-to-m) deflation rate of 0.62 percent and Year to Date (y-to-d) inflation rate of 4.61 percent.

The y-on-y inflation rate of the Energy component was 0.03 percent and the y-on-y inflation rate of the Food component was 9.38 percent.
