The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands Quarter II-2018 grows 4.51 percent

Abstract

The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands quarter II-2018 as measured by the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices (ADHB) reached Rp. 18.49 trillion and GDP at constant prices (ADHK) in 2010 reached Rp. 13.08 trillion.
The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the second quarter of 2017 (y-on-y) grew by 4.51 percent, but experienced a slowdown when compared to the second quarter of 2017 growth of 5.18 percent. In terms of production, the biggest source of growth came from the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Business Fields. While from the expenditure side, the biggest source of growth came from the Foreign Export Component.
The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands quarter II-2018 against the previous quarter (q-to-q) grew by 3.46 percent, increasing compared to the previous quarter which experienced contraction (negative growth) of 0.27 percent. In terms of production, the biggest source of growth came from the Manufacturing Industry Business Field. While from the expenditure side, the biggest source of growth came from the Foreign Export Component.
The economy of the Bangka Belitung Islands in the first half of 2018 grew 3.53 percent against the first semester of 2017 (c-to-c). In terms of production, growth was driven by almost all business fields except mining and quarrying business fields as well as the business fields of water supply, waste management, waste and recycling which fell by -4.80 percent and -0.76 percent respectively. While from the expenditure side, growth occurs in all components.
The moment of Ramadhan, Eid al-Fitr, school holidays, Simultaneous Regional Election, and several events such as Triathlon, National Consumer Day Celebration, and MX GP racing encouraged increased performance in almost all business fields and also expenditure components.
The economic structure of Sumatra Island spatially in the II-2018 quarter is dominated by Riau and North Sumatra Provinces. Riau Province gave the biggest contribution to the GRDP of Sumatra Island, which was 23.36 percent, followed by North Sumatra Province at 22.59 percent. While the Province of Bangka Belitung Islands only contributed 2.29 percent to the GRDP of Sumatra Island in the second quarter of 2018.
