Abstract

EXPORT PROVINCE OF BANGKA BELITUNG ISLANDS
MONTH APRIL 2010 REACHES US $ 112.2 MILLION


  •      The export value from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province in April 2010 reached US $ 112.2 million (based on Free On Board price, FOB), with tin exports of US $ 99.6 million and non tin of US $ 12.6 million.
  •      Tin as the largest export accounted for 84.8 percent of the total exports of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province during the period from January to April 2010. The main tin export destination was Singapore which reached US $ 288.4 million or 85.8 percent of total tin exports, followed by Netherlands US $ 10 , 2 million (3.0 percent), China US $ 9.8 million (2.9 percent), Malaysia US $ 8.4 million (2.5 percent) and Taiwan US $ 4.3 million (1.3 percent). The contribution of the five countries reached 95.6 percent of the total tin export Province of Bangka Belitung Islands.
  •      The largest non-tin export commodity of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province during the period of January-April 2010 was a group of animal or vegetable oils and fats of U $ 32.9 million (54.6 percent), followed by rubber and rubber goods U $ 13.1 million (21.7 percent); Metal ores and metal scraps U $ 6.9 million (11.5 percent); Fishery products and processed U $ 2.5 million (4.1 percent); Coffee, tea and spices US $ 2.4 million (4.0 percent) and salt, sulfur, soil and stones US $ 1.9 million (3.2 percent).
  •      Non-tin exports during the period of January-April 2010 to Malaysia reached the largest number of US $ 15.9 million or contributed the most with 26.4 percent of total non-tin exports followed by China US $ 14.6 million (24.2 percent), Vietnam US $ 6.7 million (10.0 percent), Bangladesh US $ 5.4 million (9.0 percent), Netherlands US $ 3.2 million (5.3 percent) ), Canada US $ 2.4 million (3.9 percent) and United Arab Emirates (UAE) US $ 1.2 million (2.0 percent). The contribution of the eight countries reached 92.1 percent of total non-tin exports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

  •     The value of imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province in April 2010 reached US $ 4.0 million, down 58.9 percent from US $ 9.8 million in the previous month.
  •     The cumulative value of imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province during the period January-April 2010 reached US $ 32.7 million, an increase of 190.8 percent over the same period of the previous year which amounted to US $ 11.2 million. The increase in imports was due to an increase in oil and gas imports by 10.1 percent from US $ 2.2 million to US $ 2.4 million and non-oil and gas imports by 233.7 percent from US $ 9.1 million to US $ 30.3 million.
  •     In terms of contribution to total non-oil and gas imports from January to April 2010, the boiler and machine category (HS 84) contributed the most with US $ 16.7 million (55.1 percent), followed by sea transport (HS 89) of US $ 6 1 million (20.1 percent), Machinery / electrical equipment (HS 85) of US $ 2.2 million (7.2 percent), iron and steel goods (HS 73) of US $ 1.3 million (4, 4 percent), sugar and confectionery (HS 17) of US $ 1.3 million (4.2 percent), and rubber and rubber goods (HS 40) of US $ 0.9 million (3.0 percent). The contribution of the six categories of non-oil and gas goods reached 94.0 percent of total non-oil and gas imports.
  •      The imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province from China during the period of January-April 2010 reached the largest number of US $ 19.0 million or 58.3 percent of total imports, followed by Thailand at US $ 6.3 million (19.4 percent), Singapore US $ 4 , 3 million (13.3 percent), Vietnam amounted to US $ 1.0 million (2.9 percent) and Malaysia amounted to US $ 0.7 million (2.1 percent). The contribution of these five countries reached 95.9 percent of the total imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
