EXPORT OF BANGKA BELITUNG ISLANDS
MONTH JANUARY-DECEMBER 2008 REACHES US $ 2.02 BILLION


  •      In December 2008, the export value of Bangka Belitung Islands based on Free On Board (FOB) price reached US $ 5.1 million, all non-tin commodity exports. While the cumulative export value from January to December 2008, increased 61.24 percent over the same period in 2007 from US $ 1.25 billion to US $ 2.02 billion.
  •      In the January-December 2008 period, tin exports to Singapore reached US $ 1.40 billion or 87.03 percent of total tin exports, followed by Malaysia US $ 86.1 million (5.37 percent), Japan US $ 48, 5 million (3.02 percent), the Republic of Korea US $ 27.3 million (1.70 percent), Taiwan US $ 19.5 million (1.22 percent), Hong Kong US $ 9.2 million (0.58 percent ) And other countries US $ 17.4 million (1.08 percent).
  •      During the period of January-December 2008, all categories of goods experienced an increase in export value. Of the six main commodities of Bangka Belitung Islands export commodities, metal ore and metal scraps grew by 234.96 percent compared to the same period in 2007 from US $ 6.5 million to US $ 21.9 million, followed by oil or fat Animal and vegetable (77.88 percent); Rubber and rubber goods (55.47 percent); Coffee, tea and spices (43.29 percent); Fishery and processed products (27.93 percent); And salt, sulfur, soil and stone (16.65 percent).
  •     Non-tin exports to Australia in cumulative January-December 2008 reached the largest number of US $ 144.4 million or contributed the largest of 34.46 percent to total non-tin exports, followed by Singapore amounting to US $ 71.0 million (16.94 percent ), China US $ 40.9 million (9.76 percent), Malaysia US $ 34.0 million (8.10 percent), Pakistan US $ 28.8 million (6.88 percent), Japan US $ 26.1 million Million (6.23 percent), India US $ 22.4 million (5.35 percent) and Vietnam US $ 14.5 million (3.46 percent). The contribution of the eight countries reached 91.19 percent of total non-tin exports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

  •      During the period of January-December 2008, the import value of Bangka Belitung Islands Province reached US $ 130.1 million, up 503.00 percent compared to the same period in 2007 which amounted to US $ 21.6 million. The increase in import value is due to the rise in imports of both oil and gas and non oil and gas. Oil and gas imports rose 299.70 percent from US $ 5.2 million to US $ 20.9 million, while non-oil and gas imports rose 568.17 percent from US $ 16.3 million to US $ 109.2 million.
  •      During January-December 2008, HS 89 contributed the most with US $ 94.8 million (86.80 percent), followed by boiler and machine (HS 84) of US $ 7.8 million (7, 15 percent), iron and steel goods (HS 73) of US $ 1.3 million (1.19 percent), rubber and rubber goods (HS 40) of US $ 1.3 million (1.15 Percent), sugar and foods containing sugar (HS 17) of US $ 0.8 million (0.73 percent), electric machines, voice recorders, etc. (HS 85) of US $ 0.62 million (0.57 Percent), and fertilizer (HS 31) of US $ 0.4 million (0.38 percent). The contribution of the seven categories of non-oil and gas goods reached 97.96 percent of total non-oil and gas imports.
  •     The imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province from Thailand during January-December 2008 reached US $ 89.2 million or 68.54 percent of total imports, followed by Singapore at US $ 12.9 million (9.91 percent), Malaysia at US $ 10 , 2 million (7.86 percent), Vietnam amounted to US $ 7.5 million (5.75 percent) and the Republic of Korea amounted to US $ 1.3 million (1.00 percent). The contribution of the five countries reached 93.05 percent of the total imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province
