Abstract

EXPORT OF BANGKA BELITUNG ISLANDS
UNTIL WITH THE AUGUST 2008 WE ACHIEVE US $ 1,665.8 MILLION


  •      In August 2008, the export value of Bangka Belitung Islands based on Free On Board (FOB) price reached US $ 72.3 million with tin export of US $ 62.7 million and non tin of US $ 9.6 million. While the cumulative export value from January to August 2008 in total increased 108.97 percent over the same period in 2007 from US $ 797.1 million to US $ 1665.8 million.
  •      In the period of January-August 2008 tin exports to Singapore reached the largest number of US $ 1,105.4 million or 85.34 percent of the overall export of tin. While the total tin export of Bangka Belitung Islands Province cumulatively in January-August 2008 increased by 145.16 percent compared to the same period in 2007 from US $ 528.3 million to US $ 1,295.2 million. During the period from January to August 2008, all categories of goods experienced an increase in export value.   •      Non-tin exports to Australia in cumulative January-August 2008 reached US $ 144.4 million or contributed the most with 38.98 percent of total non-tin exports, followed by Singapore at US $ 68.5 million (18.50 percent), China US $ 30.8 million (8.32 percent), Japan US $ 25.1 million (6.76 percent), Malaysia US $ 22.3 million (6.02 percent), Pakistan US $ 19.0 million (5 , 13 percent), India US $ 19.0 million (5.11 percent) and Vietnam US $ 11.5 million (3.10 percent).

  •      The import value of Bangka Belitung Islands in August 2008 reached US $ 2.1 million, consisting of oil and gas imports of US $ 0.5 million and non oil and gas imports of US $ 1.6 million. During the period of January-August 2008, the import value of Bangka Belitung Islands Province reached US $ 21.0 million or up 96.46 percent compared to the same period in 2007 which amounted to US $ 10.7 million.
  •      During January-August 2008, the boiler and machine category (HS 84) contributed the most with US $ 6.1 million (43.57 percent), followed by sea transport (HS 89) of US $ 4.3 million (30, 99 percent), iron and steel goods (HS 73) of US $ 0.9 million (6.22 percent), sugar and sugar-containing foods (HS 17) of US $ 0.8 million (5.70 percent ), Electric machines, voice recorders, etc. (HS 85) of US $ 0.5 million (3.50 percent), rubber and rubber goods (HS 40) of US $ 0.4 million (2.83 Percent) and ceramics (HS 69) of US $ 0.3 million (2.07 percent).
  •      The imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province from Singapore during January-August 2008 reached US $ 6.1 million or 29.09 percent of total imports, followed by Malaysia amounting to US $ 4.5 million (21.43 percent), Vietnam US $ 3 , 9 million (18.44 percent) and Thailand amounted to US $ 3.3 million (15.49 percent). The contribution of these four countries reached 84.45 percent of the total imports of Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
