BPS has been assigned a strategic role as the coordinator for five main development targets and 45 key indicators, including inflation, which is positioned as a core performance metric in the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN). This assignment places BPS not only as a data provider but also as a key actor in guiding evidence-based policy formulation.
In this context, the Director of Price Statistics emphasized the critical need for a shared and in-depth understanding of inflation indicators across both central and regional levels. Inflation, when maintained at a low and stable rate, serves as a fundamental enabler of sustainable economic growth, directly influencing purchasing power, investment climate, and social welfare.
Consequently, BPS at both national and regional levels is encouraged to go beyond data compilation by actively communicating the methodology and interpretation of inflation statistics. Strengthening coordination with local governments is also essential to ensure that data is used optimally in regional planning and policy responses.
This internalization process is not merely administrative; it is a step toward enhancing the analytical capacity of stakeholders, aligning statistical outputs with national development priorities, and ensuring that indicators function as effective tools for monitoring, evaluation, and continuous policy improvement.
