The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Bangka Belitung University (UBB) and the Central Statistics Agency of the Belitung Islands Province (BPS Kep. Babel Province) regarding the Provision and Utilization of Statistical Data and Information in the context of Implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education was held in the Hall of Civilization of the UBB Integrated Campus, Balun Ijuk, Bangka Regency, on Wednesday, April 24 2024.

This collaboration is an effort to synergize the potential and resources of UBB and BPS Kep Province. Babel to develop cooperation in the use of statistical data to support the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education which includes the fields of education, research and community service, as well as the Independent Campus program.

Starting this morning's activities, UBB Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim., M.Sc. said that this collaboration is a marriage between science and applied science or practitioners. He hopes that in the future this collaboration will be optimized for the use and utilization of statistical data and information to develop science so that it can contribute to the Government in terms of developing planning and evaluating policies for regional development. Decision makers need strong data, statistics and studies because without planning and analysis based on data, the resulting policies will not be on target.

In his remarks, Head of BPS Kep Province. Babel, Toto H. Silitonga, conveyed the 4 main services of BPS, namely: Library Services, Sales of Statistical Products, Statistical Consultations, and Statistical Recommendations. All of these services can be obtained offline and online, either via the websites babel.bps.go.id and pst.bps.go.id, or via WhatsApp at 0811-7816-340.

For UBB students and academics, BPS Prov. Kep. Babel also provides BPS data consultation services through the Statistics Corner which is placed in the UBB Library with the help of Statistics Agents who are UBB students who are given training (capacity building) so that they can assist students in carrying out statistical consultations, both for thesis needs and other course assignments.

Apart from statistical consultations, BPS Kep Province services. Another babel is product sales statistics. Statistical products traded include micro data, digital maps, and print and digital publications. However, for research needs, academics and students as data consumers can get services for 0 rupiah or free. This is BPS's commitment to maximize the use of data produced by BPS for the nation's progress.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was also attended by the Deputy Chancellor III for Planning, Information Systems and Cooperation, Dr. Dwi Haryadi, SH., M.H.; Dean of the UBB Faculty of Science and Engineering, Fardhan Arkan, S.T., M.T.; Head of the UBB Mathematics Department, Ineu Sulistiana, Head of the General Section of BPS Prov. Kep. Babel, Ahmad Thamrin, along with the ranks of BPS Provincial. Kep. Babylon.

Next, a Public Lecture "The Importance of Statistics for Development Planning" with the Head of BPS Provincial as resource person. Kep. Babel for all students and lecturers of the UBB Mathematics Department.
