Data Release Results Of 2023 Agricultural Census Phase I Bangka Belitung Islands Province

On June 1-July 31 2023, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) carried out the 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023) throughout Indonesia. ST2023 is the 7th Agricultural Census carried out by BPS, since it began in 1963. The Agricultural Census is carried out every ten years in the year ending 3 in accordance with the mandate of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics. The implementation of ST2023 also refers to the World Food Agency or FAO program.

President Jokowi also conveyed his support for the implementation of ST2023 at the launch of ST2023 at the State Palace on 15 May 2023, "I support the implementation of ST2023 so that this census truly produces accurate, up-to-date and reliable data."

Today, December 4 2023, BPS is holding ST2023 Phase 1 Results Dissemination simultaneously throughout Indonesia. BPS Bangka Belitung Islands Province held the Phase I ST2023 Result Data Release at the Novotel Bangka Hotel and Convention Center and invited representatives of relevant OPDs throughout the Bangka Belitung Islands, mass media, academics, and Heads of BPS Districts/Cities throughout the Bangka Belitung Islands.

In his remarks, the Head of BPS Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Toto Haryanto Silitonga, said that the complete ST2023 Phase I enumeration results released today were the result of collaboration between various parties in strengthening the national agricultural database. It is hoped that this collaboration will not only stop at providing comprehensive agricultural data, but can also be the first step in improving national agricultural data governance, and improving the quality of national agricultural development policy design through widespread use of ST2023 results.

He also expressed his deepest appreciation and thanks to all parties who have supported and helped the smooth implementation of ST2023. No less important are the ST2023 officers and agricultural business respondents throughout the Bangka Belitung Islands who have worked together to produce quality data to realize food sovereignty and farmer welfare.
Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province Agriculture and Food Security Service, Edi Romdhoni, as the representative of the Acting Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by BPS through the implementation of ST2023 and the resulting data is undoubtedly awaited and will be utilized as much as possible for development planning, especially in agricultural sector.

ST2023 aims to provide data regarding the national agricultural structure down to the smallest regional level as well as complete and detailed cross tabulations; Providing an up-to-date agricultural sampling frame as a basis for subsequent agricultural surveys that collect more detailed agricultural statistics; and As a benchmark and reconciliation of existing agricultural statistics. ST2023 will cover seven subsectors, namely food crops, horticulture, plantations, livestock, fisheries, forestry and agricultural services. In ST2023, agricultural business actors throughout Indonesia will be recorded, including individual agricultural business units, other agricultural business units (groups), as well as agricultural companies with legal entities.
In stage I, the ST2023 results data released are as follows:
Agricultural Enterprises and Household Agricultural Enterprises (RTUP) by type of business unit and subsector;
  • Demographics of agricultural business managers according to age group and gender;
  • Land controlled is based on land area categories;
  • Number of Household Agricultural Enterprises (RTUP), Individual Agricultural Enterprises (UTP), and small farmers;
  • Millennial farmers (number of millennial farmers by age);
  • Number of urban farming RTUP and UTP;
  • Classification of fertilizer use;
  • Commodities most cultivated by UTP and the number of cows and buffaloes in agricultural business units.
  • It is hoped that the resulting agricultural database can be shared between Ministries/Institutions/Departments/Agencies within the framework of One Indonesian Data.
