Attending the ST2023 Regional Coordination Meeting, Here's What Pj Governor Safrizal Expects

Belitung - Acting Governor of Babel, Safrizal Zakaria Ali opened the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023) at Sheraton Belitung Resort, Monday (27/11/2023).

In his remarks, Safrizal said that sustainable development is key in the current era of disruption. One of the sectors that can encourage sustainable development is the agriculture and fisheries sector because this sector does not depend on the availability of non-renewable natural resources. Furthermore, Safrizal hopes that in the future the agriculture and fisheries sector will become the main contributor to the economy, so that when tin prices fall, the Babylonian economy will not be as volatile as in previous years.

It cannot be denied that there are currently many problems faced by farmers in the country, one of which is the ongoing el nino phenomenon. However, the local government continues to pursue strategies through various programs to overcome these problems.

Meanwhile, Belitung Regent, Sahani Saleh who also gave his speech said that the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) as an agency that is a data reference center has a very vital role. For this reason, Sahani Saleh stated that he would fully support BPS' efforts in producing quality statistical data, especially in Belitung Regency. "Let us realize the vision and mission of our regional development with the spirit of mutual cooperation and close cooperation. Keep working, innovating, and working hard for the progress of our region", he said.

On the same occasion, the Principal Secretary of BPS RI, Atqo Mardiyanto, who was also present, expressed his gratitude to the ranks of BPS and the Regional Government both at the Provincial and Regency / City levels for their hard work, support and collaboration in the implementation of ST2023. As is known, the theme carried in ST2023 is "Recording Indonesian Agriculture for food sovereignty and farmers' welfare". With this theme, we certainly hope that the data from ST2023 will be able to become a valid basis for policy making by the Government and other policy makers in the agricultural sector, towards achieving food sovereignty and improving the welfare of all farmers in Indonesia.

Furthermore, the Head of BPS of Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Toto Haryanto Silitonga in his report said that the ST2023 Rakorda activity aims to i) Coordination related to technical, administration, data processing, analysis, and dissemination, after ST2023 enumeration activities; ii) Integration of evaluation of a series of ST2023 activities and other activities in 2023; iii) Integration of preparation for ST2023 activities and other activities in 2024.

Given the wide scope of data generated from this census activity, the ST2023 results will be released in 2 stages. The first stage will be conducted on 4 .
